Mycetaspis personata Comstock (Diaspididae: Coccoidea) is a scale insect on mango leaves, stems and fruits sucking the sap and causing a yellowing of the tissues of these organs, even at a higher stage of development of the pest it produces a scorching of these tissues. The present study was carried out in the research laboratory of the Museum of Entomology ''Klaus Raven Büller''. The objective was to determine the biology and behaviour of M. personata in the mango crop 'Kent'. The nymphs and adults of M. personata can be found on the upper and lower side of the leaves. The nymphal period ranged from 26.3 to 42.3 days at 19.4 - 25.4 °C and 69.6 - 72.7 % HR, where nymph I lasted 6.1 - 6.4 days and nymph II 20.2 - 35.9 days. The male pupal period lasted between 10.6 and 18.3 days at 20.5 - 26.7 °C and 67.3 - 71.4 % HR. The female development cycle ranged from 26.3 to 42.3 days. Male development cycle ranged from 36.7 to 61.2 days. Sex ratio was 1.1:1 to 2:1 female:male. Female longevity ranged from 93 to 107 days, with oviposition capacity ranging from 107 to 123 eggs/female. M. personata is ovoviviparous and does not show parthenogenesis, oviposition occurs within the shell. The crawler attachment time is 4 hours 32 minutes on average.
