Objective: to determine the influence of presurgical mood on acute pain in adult patients after elective abdominal surgery at the Samuel Pastor Hospital – Camaná. Materials and Methods: the study follows a quantitative, cross-sectional, correlational approach; it has a sample of 30 patients, with a non-probabilistic, convenience sampling, whose applied technique was the questionnaire, the instruments were the mood evaluation scale (EVEA) and the visual analogue pain scale (EVA), which will be applied in patients operated on for elective abdominal surgery. Results: according to the findings we will see whether or not there is an influence of the presurgical mood state with the intensity of pain in the post surgical stage in patients from 21 to 59 years (adults). Conclusion: the presence of a relationship between the variables mood in the presurgical stage with acute post-surgical pain will be established, which will be important for future research and quality care for patients.
