Objective: to determine the factors associated with self-medication of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) in the inhabitants of the district of Pedregal Majes - Arequipa, May - July 2023. Methods: the present research has a quantitative approach, descriptive, non-experimental, cross-sectional design. It was carried out in a population of: 60108 adults with a representative sample of 382 inhabitants surveyed by means of a questionnaire. Statistical analysis: SPSS Version 25. Results: the results show that self-medication is not limited to a specific group of occupations. In economic terms, there is no direct correlation between income and self-medication. Regarding sociocultural aspects, reasons were recognized such as the limitation of available time, the impact of large-scale media and suggestions from friends or family. Conclusions: they highlight the significance of promoting education about the correct use of medicines, increasing the availability of health care services, establishing regulations for the promotion of pharmaceutical products and encouraging early seeking of medical advice, with the purpose of reducing the dangers linked to self-treatment.
