The method known as "kangaroo mother care" focuses on the care of premature newborns through skin-to-skin contact with the mother. This technique is simple to implement and has proven to be effective, as it promotes the health and well-being of neonates during their time in the hospital. The review titled “Benefits of Kangaroo Mother Care versus Sole Use of the Incubator in Preterm Newborns” was conducted using Evidence-Based Nursing (EBN) methodology. Its objective was to identify the advantages of this technique and provide the best evidence to improve the quality of care in neonatal units. The clinical question that guided this research was: What are the benefits of kangaroo mother care compared to the sole use of the incubator in preterm newborns? To address this question, a search was conducted in various databases, including ProQuest, Google Scholar, Virtual Health Library, Ciberindex, and Epistemonikos, selecting a total of seven articles. After applying Gálvez Toro's validation checklist, a clinical trial was chosen as the primary source, which was analyzed following the CASPE guidelines. The results revealed that the kangaroo method is particularly beneficial for extremely premature and low-birth-weight newborns, as it promotes their neurological, cognitive, and emotional development, strengthens the bond with their parents, and reduces the length of hospitalization, which in turn decreases the risk of hospital-acquired infections.
