Caring for patients with mental disorders is an arduous task, which sometimes leads to the person responsible for carrying out this function suffering a deterioration in their health, a situation that worsens when this person has the perception of being alone and not receiving help from the rest. The general objective of this research was to determine the relationship between the dimensions of perceived social support and burden in caregivers of family members with mental disorders in a mental health center in Chiclayo; and, as specific objectives, to identify the relationship between perceived social support and burden; identify the level of perceived social support according to age and sex; and identify the level of burden according to age and sex. Based on this, a quantitative approach, non-experimental design, and descriptive-correlational type was chosen, for which the survey technique was used, which is why the Zarit burden scale was used, and The multidimensional scale of perceived social support. The results obtained show the existence of a significant moderate inverse correlation between the two variables under study. Likewise, it was found that there is a predominance of the medium level of perceived social support in female caregivers, while the low level of this variable predominates in average adult caregivers. On the other hand, there was a predominance of the intense level of burden in late adult caregivers, and a predominance of the slight level of burden in female caregivers and. Finally, it was concluded that the higher the level of social support perceived by caregivers, the lower the level of burden they experience.
