Today, the growing number of vehicles and lack of parking is a common problem at many universities across the country. As the population grows and more people commute by car, it becomes increasingly difficult to find available parking spaces, which can lead to congestion, stress and additional costs. The problem of parking shortages is very complex as it involves multiple factors. On the one hand, drivers need a place to park their vehicles. On the other hand, local authorities must focus on the need to increase parking. That is why in the present research a vertical parking lot design using PLC and its programming in TIA Portal V15 software was implemented through SolidWorks software with the objective of increasing the parking area. In this research, the current situation of the parking area at a university in the Lambayeque region was diagnosed through observation. In addition, a vertical parking lot was conceptually designed to know the parameters of the components. Once the parameters were obtained, the vertical parking lot was electromechanically designed in order to dimension the structural systems and select the electrical components, as well as to automate it in the TIA PORTAL V15 software. The main structure was also analyzed using SolidWorks software to know the static behavior of the system and finally it was evaluated by means of a cost structure. As a final result, an automated vertical parking lot was designed to increase the parking area at a university in the Lambayeque region.
