Article 22 of the Mental Health Law describes the conditions and guarantees of mental health services, highlighting that the entity in charge of supervising mental health ensures the continuity of medical care for people who need mental health care, preserving their family and community ties. However, the legislator does not specifically detail how said continuity and family bonding should be implemented. Therefore, the objective of this research work was to present a proposal to modify the aforementioned article to solve the identified deficiency, for this purpose the interpretive paradigm was used with a qualitative approach, since it refers to the explanation of reality, being It is extremely important to use comparative legislation. In addition, the technique of documentary analysis and its instrument, the documentary analysis guide, were applied, since a review of books, magazines, documents, legislative material, etc. was carried out. to analyze the theoretical bases that served as support to achieve this goal. The amendment will significantly contribute to the protection by the State of people who experience some type of mental health disorder, vulnerable population, focusing on and training their family members in order to guarantee their treatment in the family environment. and in this way its continuity is guaranteed, as it will allow family members to contribute to the maintenance and strengthening of their health.
