In the present investigation, an expert system was implemented to support the diagnosis of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in university students, integrating the Buchanan methodology to the agile Extreme Programming (XP) methodology to cover from system requirements to testing and validation. The expert system is based on sixty-four rules previously defined together with the expert psychologist and based on the DSM-V manual of the American Psychiatric Association, taking into account three main symptoms: inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity that, when evaluated to a Through questions, the level of ADHD presented was presented. For this, the optimal algorithm was identified, the rule-based model was implemented and, in addition, it was validated by the expert, who concluded a high level of efficiency demonstrated by the correct diagnoses of expert system compared to their own; and a favorable assessment was obtained by Information Technology professionals, measured in the Technological Acceptance Model (TAM), based on the criteria of Ease of Use and Perceived Utility.
