The objective of this research was to characterize informal commerce in street vendors in the periphery of the model market in the district of Chiclayo, 2022. It was conducted under the quantitative approach, basic type, descriptive level and non-experimental design with cross-sectional cut, with a sample of 384 street traders. Among the results it was observed that 51% are men, and 49% are women, and they are in a young age range seeking alternative employment and income. Likewise, there is a majority presence of single, married and cohabiting people, who have an important family responsibility, since most of them have an average of 1 to 4 children. In addition, they have a basic level of education, mostly at the primary and secondary levels, and are also characterized by the migration of merchants to the district of Chiclayo, whose main reason is work, reflecting the minimal existence of permanent jobs before entering informal commerce. On the other hand, it is also characterized by economic factors that integrate the small amount of economic capital, which comes from their personal and family savings, the need to achieve economic independence, because they did not have sufficient income before entering the labor market, also having the need to be able to collaborate with family support.
