Preventive care for pneumonia in mothers of preschool children covers various measures to effectively prevent and control this disease, for example, vaccination, good nutrition, reducing indoor air pollution, promoting proper hygiene in homes overcrowded, keeping windows open and washing hands. Objective: Describe, analyze and understand preventive care for pneumonia in mothers of preschoolers in the young town of Santa Trinidad de Chiclayo, 2023. The type of research was qualitative, with a descriptive methodological approach. The population was made up of 25 mothers with preschool children belonging to the young town of Santa Trinidad, the sample was delimited by the saturation and redundancy technique, non-probabilistic sampling for convenience; The data collection technique was the semi-structured interview and the instrument was an interview guide. The data were processed using thematic content analysis. Ethical principles and scientific rigor were also applied. Among the results, 3 categories were obtained: a) Preventive care for pneumonia and recognition of risk factors, b) Identification of signs and symptoms, and c) Empirical care to prevent pneumonia symptoms. Conclusion: the care that mothers carry out is to avoid exposing them to air, ice drinks, keeping them warm, establishing bathing schedules and having knowledge about risk factors, but they live in conditions that predispose them. Given the symptoms, they use home remedies and seek outpatient treatment with antibiotics and antipyretics.
