The service station under study is dedicated to the commercialization of fuel in the city of Chiclayo, Peru. It has reduced its profits in the period 2022 -2021 by 60,5%, with the general objective of the investigation being to redesign its inventory management to improve its utility; and its specific objectives, the diagnosis of inventory management, proposing the redesign of the inventory management of the service station to improve its usefulness and economic and financial evaluation of the redesign of inventory management proposed to improve its usefulness. The problem was analyzed through the analysis of interviews, the application of surveys, the analysis of the company's historical data and other diagnostic tools, finding as root causes of the problem the poor calculation of replenishment, the lack of instruments for measuring inventories, lack of preventive maintenance for dispensers and lack of staff training. It was proposed to forecast the demand and apply a partial EOQ system considering the permitted fuel storage capacities, reorder point calculation and safety inventory, including the “5s” plan, training, preventive maintenance, process improvement, control command with KPIS and acquisition of the telemetry system for reliable measurement of volumes. The financial economic evaluation was viable, obtaining a VANof S/ 17 172,43 in a period of 5 years, a return rate of 55%, a cost benefit of 1,07, the investment would be recovered in 2 years; concluding conditions of acceptability of the project.
