This research entitled Nursing Interventions in the Prevention of Infections in Patients with Central Venous Catheters in critical units; whose methodology used was Evidence-Based Nursing, Secondary Research type; The objective was taken: to identify nursing interventions to prevent infections in patients with central venous catheters (CVC) in the Intensive Care Units. The critical question formulated for such research was: What are the nursing interventions that contribute to the prevention of infections in patients with central venous catheters hospitalized in critical units? In the search in the database of PubMed, Epistemonikos, virtual library, Scielo and search engines such as Google academic, more than 220 articles were found, selecting only 12, which underwent a critical reading through the validation of Gálvez Toro, selecting the article: Insertion and central venous catheter maintenance: evidence-based clinical recommendations; According to the level of evidence, its grade of recommendation is III, using the Caspe checklist for its respective validation and preparation of the critical comment; reaching the conclusion that the application of nursing interventions is necessary to prevent infections, emphasizing daily interventions that range from the moment of insertion and maintenance of the catheter, such as hand washing; healing of the insertion site, avoiding obstruction of the catheter and protecting the site with sterile gauze, also changing it every 48 to 72 hours depending on the daily assessment, avoiding excessive and unnecessary manipulation of the catheter to reduce or prevent the dissemination of microorganisms in The devices, remove immediately if it breaks during handling, since taking into account all these guidelines, the increase in infections in patients with central venous catheters hospitalized in the critical care unit can be prevented.
