The present study is entitled "Budget management and its spending efficiency in the Regional Directorate of Transportation and Communications, Tarapoto 2022". Based on this, the study was executed in the Regional Directorate of Transportation and Communications, Tarapoto. The problematic situation presented by the institution lies mainly in the inadequate budget management and how this is related to the efficiency of spending. The general objective of the research is to determine the relationship between budget management and expenditure efficiency in the Regional Directorate of Transportation and Communications, Tarapoto 2022. This is an applied study with a non-experimental design. The sample consists of 30 collaborators of the RDT of the city of Tarapoto; to answer the objectives, a questionnaire was conducted by means of descriptive and inferential analysis. The results are as follows: The current situation of budget management in the institution is regular at 53%, the level of spending efficiency in the institution is medium at 53%, and the total budget for the period 2022 was for S / 76,860,071. There is a relationship between the dimensions of budget management and expenditure efficiency. Conclusion: The relationship between budget management and expenditure efficiency in the Regional Directorate of Transportation and Communications, Tarapoto, is significant because the p-value is 0.001 with a very strong positive correlation of 0.836.
