Web accessibility, which allows users to access websites regardless of their physical or cognitive abilities, is fundamental to ensure equity in access to information in the digital age. The objective of this study was to evaluate the web accessibility of provincial municipalities in Peru through a non-experimental applied research design. A total of 194 active websites were analyzed using an empirical approach, selecting and running the TAW tool to extract metrics. The results revealed a significant dispersion in accessibility levels, with no particular concentration on a specific level. The widespread lack of compliance with WCAG 2.0 level A criteria underscores the need for specific interventions to address critical areas, such as proper linking purpose and structuring of information. The identification of 194 valid websites provided a solid basis for the assessment, highlighting the importance of ensuring transparency and equal access to digital government services, the diversity in accessibility levels and the urgency of interventions to ensure information equity in the digital society.
