This dissertation work was developed in the Professional School of Civil Engineering of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture of the National University of San Martín - Tarapoto, for purposes of qualification as Civil Engineer, having as working point the district of Cacatachi , Province and Region San Martín. The research was developed to study, identify and evaluate the types of soils that exist in the locality and determine their carrying capacity, with the purpose of the application to elaborate a zoning plan by the physical and mechanical characteristics of the soils. In this way contribute with the results of the research to the general population of the town to build buildings to build. So they actively participated in the production of new knowledge with positive fines from the community and science. Apply the fundamental concepts in the area of soil mechanics, using the special equipment and accessories of the laboratory of the Faculty of our University, in this way we obtain the results of the classification of the sandy and clay soils. In the same way, with the fundamental support of the direct cutting test, the necessary parameters of the angle of friction (ɸ) and cohesion (C) were obtained, the basic elements determine the capacity of the soils under study. As achievements, it is indicated that the obtained results show all the lights that it is possible to obtain an exit of the correct application of the theory, studies and conclusive results, that can be used for the calculation of the bearing capacity. In this way we are helping to solve the problem as well as the economic and social development of this community.
