Feasibility of end-terminal jejunal anastomosis overlaid with mesenteric transposition in a canine model Small intestine surgery is very serious in small animals due to postoperative complications in the suture line. Bioprostheses based on organic materials from other animals are available, as well as autogenous prostheses that help to prevent problems after intestinal surgery, especially at the suture line. The aim of the present work was to perform a mesenteric transposition as a lining of the jejunal end-terminal anastomosis in a canine model, describing the macro and microscopic anatomopathological changes in the suture line. The surgeries were performed at the Miraflores Academic Research Center of the UNSM. The surgeries were performed at the Miraflores Academic Research Center of the UNSM. Nine dogs classified ASA I, distributed in three groups (A, B, and C), were selected and underwent a terminal end-stage enterectomy with mesenteric lining. These animals underwent laparotomy again according to the time per group (A: 5 days, B: 10 days and C: 30 days). The results showed that mesenteric transposition technique is feasible to be performed in dogs. In addition, in terms of macroscopic changes, the presence of abscesses, peritonitis or leaks was found to be absent. Adhesions were evidenced. Microscopically, there was good irrigation, the bowel anatomy was maintained and no fibrosis was present. It was concluded that the proposed technique is viable.
