Today, the accelerated urban growth of our cities has opened a gap between the possibilities of an adequate public cleaning service and the growing public demand for this service. At present, most of the municipalities of the country develop solid waste management activities without having basic information about solid waste generation and its characterization which is reflected in the quality of the service and many times in the improvisation of Technologies that propose to solve the solid waste management from its generation to its final disposal. The generation and characterization of municipal solid waste are very important parameters for decision making in terms of planning and design of the solid waste management and disposal systems. Parameter from the selection of the sample to its statistical analysis. In this paper, municipal solid wastes (solid waste generated in houses or rooms) are analyzed, divided by stratum in the city of Moyobamba, Stratum A, Stratum B and Stratum C, to determine the quantity and characteristics of solid household waste from Of a Stratified Random Sampling. The objective of this study is to generate qualitative and quantitative information, using statistical sampling methods and analysis, to determine the per capita generation, volumetric weight and the percentage of recoverable and non-recoverable products, in order to base the conclusions and adjustments necessary for the establishment of alternative solutions on the management and disposal of wastes.
