The research project named above was carried out in the city of Tarapoto, specifically in the jirón Martínez de Compagñón, since there was a need to implement the BIM methodology in drainage system construction projects. The main objective was the implementation of this methodology through the BIM dimensions. First, the parameters needed to carry out a drainage project were identified, such as: topographic study, soil study, hydrological and hydraulic studies. Then the software to be used was identified; for this project, CIVIL 3D and Infraworks were used. In addition, a comparison was made on the development of drainage system projects with traditional method and BIM methodology, in which it was possible to conclude that the BIM methodology is very helpful for construction projects, contributes to the development and can be better monitored at all stages of construction of a project, since the intervention of all specialties of the project can be visualized, working together to ensure a reliable work. It is recommended to continue researching more on this methodology and to provide training to companies and students on BIM because it is the future of construction.
