The following study titled "Anemia in pregnancy and its relation to perinatal maternal complications in puerperal patients treated at the MINSA II-2 Tarapoto Hospital, from July to December 2016", it is a quantitative, descriptive, correlational, retro prospective study, with a sample of 189 postpartum women. The technique was the documentary review and as instrument the data collection datasheet. The results were, according to socio demographic characteristics, the mothers are 30.7% between 20 and 25 years of age, 79.9% are cohabiting, 32.3% have incomplete secondary school, 93.7% are housewives, 53.4% come from rural areas, and 68.8% are Catholic. The proportion of anemia was 46.0%, and according to type they have: 23.8% moderate anemia, 20.1% mild anemia and 2.1% severe anemia. The puerperal presented as main obstetric complications: 33.3% premature rupture of membranes and 12.6% oligohydramnios; Maternal: 58.6% urinary tract infection and 23.0% hypertensive disorders; Perinatal: 50.6% have low birth weight and 16.1% have preterm birth. In conclusion: Between anemia and the main perinatal maternal complications there is a statistically significant relationship with premature rupture of membranes, p = 0.024; with urinary tract infection (UTI), p = 0.011; with low birth weight, p = 0.034.
