Identification and determination of the soil dispersivity degree along the Puerto Sangama road to the town of Pilluana The purpose of this research is to determine the presence of dispersive soils along the road that connects the port of Sangama with the town of Pilluana. The area is characterized by its climate between summer seasons with little rainfall and rainy winters that saturate the soils, a stage in which settlement by tubification could occur and even lead to collapse in the civil works along the road. This is evidenced by the presence of crab-like erosion at certain points and the salts on the surface of the soil in the form of a whitish sheet, formed by the alluvial sedimentation of the water threads from the Pilluana salt dome, located in the upper part of the right bank of the Huallaga River. When hydrolyzed, the saline soils will behave with dispersing characteristics. Taking into consideration the above mentioned, the objective of the research is to identify and determine the degree of dispersivity of soils, by means of physical characterization, chemical characterization and soils dispersivity. The study area is located in the district of Pilluana, in the province of Picota, department of San Martin, on the right bank of the Huallaga River, at the Sangama port, at approximately km 36+900.00 of the Fernando Belaunde Terry highway, Tarapoto-Picota section, south of the district of Tarapoto. Currently, there is a four-kilometer dirt road leading to the district entrance, which is reached by crossing the Huallaga River using a raft and motorized boats. The evaluation period began in October 2021, and lasted 9 months and 16 calendar days, where the design and experimental treatment of physical and chemical characterization tests were carried out, including moisture content, specific weight, granulometry, liquid limit, plastic limit, dry density and salinity. Dispersion tests were performed using the methodology developed through the Crumb, double Hydrometer and Pinhole, for the main procedures the current international and national standards were followed. The results obtained show that the predominant soils are clays and silts with low and medium plasticity, with a maximum moisture content of 27.02%, of medium hard consistency and with presence of salts. The results of the dispersion tests do not match, having in the Crumb from slight to no reaction, in the double hydrometer only the C-11 test pit has intermediate dispersivity without considering the presence of silts, and in the Pinhole all the pits were considered non-dispersive. In conclusion, the Pinhole is the most reliable test, since it is quantitative, qualitative, and models the service conditions; however, the presence of salinity and the results of the double hydrometer cannot be ignored, therefore, we affirm that the soils on the Puerto Sangama road to the town of Pilluana are silts and clays of medium dispersivity with the presence of salts.
