Unrecognized credit card transactions pose significant risks in the Peruvian and global financial sphere, highlighting the need to safeguard the security of users against possible fraud in a digital environment. The duty of suitability in financial services acquires vital importance when protecting users in the era of technological omnipresence, where protection against unauthorized transactions becomes a key challenge. The general objective of this research was to determine whether financial entities in San Martin comply with the duty of suitability when providing financial services, specifically in the detection and management of unrecognized financial operations, and the specific objectives were to identify the level of compliance with the duty of suitability in the resolutions issued by Indecopi San Martin, 2021; and to identify the dimensions of the service in unrecognized financial operations with INDECOPI-San Martin credit cards. This study was carried out in the city of Tarapoto, San Martin region, from October 2022 to April 2023. The research design is descriptive of a basic quantitative type, and the results obtained with respect to the general objective were essentially that the lack of a clear association between these variables in the data and methods analyzed suggests a possible lack of integral application of the principle of appropriateness in the context evaluated, implying the need for further research in this aspect. Regarding specific objective 1, the exhaustive study of cases related to unrecognized financial transactions in INDECOPI-San Martín yielded significant results that highlight certain critical areas and challenges in the area of consumer protection. Specific objective 2 highlights the need to focus on strategies to mitigate unrecognized charges, indicating a clear priority in the prevention and resolution of these situations in order to safeguard the interests of financial users. It was concluded that there is no statistically significant connection between financial services suitability and unrecognized financial transactions, underscoring the continued importance of suitability in financial practices. The findings show an overall prevalence of Non Recognized Charges (NRCs) on credit cards, highlighting the urgency of addressing these problems to protect the interests of financial users.
