The present research is entitled "Pop Ballads in English and their effect on the development of English language vocabulary in students of the 4th grade secondary level of the I.E José María Arguedas - Cacatachi, year 2019". Its general objective was to determine the effect of pop ballads in the development of English vocabulary in students of the 4th grade secondary level of the I.E. José María Arguedas - Cacatachi year 2019. The type of investigation was applied, given that to offer solution to the reflected deficiencies, thus to be transformed in improvement as for the facts that concerns us, whose level was exploratory and descriptive; in addition the design of the study was quasi-experimental; the sample was conformed by 45 students of the 4th grade secondary level of the I.E José María Arguedas - Cacatachi, year 2019. It was obtained as a result, where the significance value was less than 0.05; that is to say it was 0.000; in addition the effect has been determined through the calculated T (17.257), considering that it is greater than the tabulated T (2.021); arriving to conclude that there is a significant effect between the Pop Ballads and the development of the vocabulary; accepting in such a way the alternative hypothesis of the study, where it considers that there is a positive effect between both variables.
