This is a descriptive thesis work, which consisted of collecting bibliographic information on the factors that determine the sowing season in the large campaign and small campaign in the cultivation of corn (Zea mays L.), in the province of Picota, San Martín - 2022, whose study allowed us to analyze and establish the factors that determine the planting season; and his study of the cost benefit generated by the cultivation of corn (Zea mays). The results obtained indicate that the factors that determine the planting season in the corn crop (Zea mays L.) in the province of Picota - San Martin, both in the large campaign and in the small campaign (2019-2022), They are constituted by the precipitation (mm), relative humidity (%) and temperature (°C), being the most important and changing to the pluvial precipitation. The maximum temperature of both campaigns, present values above 30°C, whose effect could generate stress problems and alter the phenology of the crop and consequently affect the yield of the corn crop. The large campaign (2019-2022) registered the highest rainfall in the month of March, whose values were: 256.60, 119.80, 247.50 and 115.60 mm. In the small campaign, during the month of October the highest rainfall was recorded with values of 78.60, 110.20 and 79,40 mm, corresponding to the years of 2020, 2021 and -2022 with the exception of 2019, which registered 51.60 mm in the month of September. In summary, the distribution of rainfall in both campaigns presents an irregular variation, registering higher rainfall in the last two months. The Cost Benefit (B/C) ratio of the large campaign was economically more profitable than the small campaign, presenting a total cost of S/. 5,736.00 soles, generating a profit of S/. 2,514.00 soles and a B/C ratio of 1.44.
