The purpose of this research was to evaluate the relationship between motivational strategies and work performance, taking into account that in recent years, as a consequence of the pandemic, many hotel companies closed due to bankruptcy, finding it necessary to lay off personnel and in some cases, through economic strategies, they were able to recover the number of personnel necessary to continue their operations. Thus, greater emphasis was placed on the employees in search of improving the quality of services through new organizational plans; being necessary the incorporation of strategies or outdoor training to improve performance. Thus, this originated the growing interest for hotel entrepreneurs, to ensure that their employees are fit and in optimal conditions for a better performance in their work environment and therefore be visible to guests in the service provided, taking into consideration that this involves motivating them to learn, for subsequent application of what they have learned and to reach the institutional goal set. However, it is worth mentioning that sometimes employees do not feel satisfied, being necessary the intervention of actions that allow the achievement of an optimal performance, where among these actions always stand out the promotion of an assertive behavior, putting into practice their strengths through their capabilities and recognitions; benefiting both parties; avoiding stress and staff turnover. In this sense, the main objective was to determine the relationship between motivational strategies and the work performance of employees in 3-star hotels, Tarapoto. In addition, the type of research was basic at a relational level, with a sample of 82 employees of 3-star hotels in the city of Tarapoto. Likewise, the results determined that motivational strategies were found at a high level in 87.8% of workers, while work performance reached a medium level in 58.5%. Likewise, it was identified that there was a directly proportional relationship, as well as a considerable positive correlation between extrinsic and intrinsic factors and work performance. It was concluded that there was a directly proportional relationship between motivational strategies and the work performance of 3-star hotel employees, as a result of having reached a sigma value of 0.000, thus highlighting that the use of motivational strategies generates optimal environments, in addition to encouraging active participation for the fulfillment of objectives. Therefore, the incorporation of motivational strategies in organizations is of great importance that businessmen know in depth, being cautious with the emotional state, interpersonal skills, innovative capabilities, and satisfaction of the collaborators that contribute to self-development and effort within the hotel organization. Therefore, the hotel should also provide training, constant evaluations and incentives through its organizational plans.
