The present thesis project called comparative analysis of flexible and rigid pavement for the repair of the streets of the center of the district of Tarapoto was developed in the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the National University of San Martin - Tarapoto. The purpose of this study is to make a comparison between the time spent in the execution of a paving project, and the cost per square meter that will be obtained when paying for said proposals among the selected study alternatives. Taking into account that the flexible pavements have shorter periods of useful life, unlike the rigid pavements that have longer periods of useful life, as can be seen in the rigid pavements that still exist around the parade ground of the city of Tarapoto , whose structures have been built around the 70s. The deterioration of rigid and flexible pavement is a constant problem, encountered over the years due to high traffic and road deterioration due to lack of adequate maintenance. One method of evaluation of pavement behavior is the Standard Procedure for the Inspection of the Pavement Condition Index in Roads and Parking, reflected in ASTM D6433 or also called PCI Method, (Pavement Condition Index), which by means of visual inspections , you can determine the state in which a certain route is located, depending on the type of damage and / or failures they contain, both in quantity and in severity. In the first stage of the investigation, a fieldwork was carried out, in which the data collection of all the faults in the study path was made, finding different types of faults and with their respective levels of condition that vary between mild, moderate and severe, distinguishing them according to depth, area, length, etc., then the work was done in the cabinet for the corresponding calculation, having to group the faults in areas as sample units in a total length of 564 m and an area of 292 m2 evaluation. It was decided to use 16 sample units where the highest failure rate was distinguished, obtaining results between very bad, bad, regular, good and very good.
