Cocoa production is an alternative for the economic growth of the San Martin Region, and difficulties exists within the production chain. The region has optimal characteristics for cocoa production. The existing potential export demand for cocoa, it is necessary to think about the domestic consumption of cocoa in the San Martin region, considering the changing conditions shown in current foreign trade and the productive vocation of farmers linked to this productive activity. The objective was to determine the impact of cocoa production on domestic consumption in the San Martin Region between 2008 and 2017. The hypothesis to be demonstrated was that cocoa production generates an impact on domestic consumption in the San Martin Region between 2008 and 2017. It was an applied research, wtih an explanatory research level, using the non-experimental - longitudinal research design. The hypothetical-deductive method was used, employing the estimation method: Ordinary least squares (OLS). It is concluded that: The production of cocoa in the San Martin region explains 91.20% of the internal consumption of cocoa in the region and confirms the very strong positive correlation between both variables, with a Pearson's correlation coefficient of 0.955. By the way, if there is a variation of one unit of cocoa production, internal consumption will increase in 0.698 units. Furthermore, an autonomous internal cocoa consumption of 2,486,060 units is reflected.
