The use of energy has been linked to human welfare and development; in Peru, electricity production has doubled in the last two decades. The San Martin Region, in order to modify the regional energy matrix with renewable sources, shows an interesting hydro-energetic potential. The behavior of the GDP of the San Martin region reflects an average annual growth of 6.5% in the period 2007 - 2014. The objective was: to determine the impact of the energy matrix on the economic growth of the San Martin Region from 2000 to 2019. The hypothesis was: It is evident that the energy matrix has an impact on the economic growth of the San Martin Region from 2000 to 2019. The research was applied, with an explanatory level and a non-experimental - longitudinal design. Modeling - inferential method was used. It is concluded that the existing relationship between GDP and Hydraulic and Thermal electric energy is 0.622 and -0.504, LPG is 0.972, Diesel is 0.961, Gasoline is 0.995, Gasohol are 0.880, Kerosene is -0.710, and Firewood has a relation of -0.961. The relationship between the overall energy generation and the gross domestic product of the San Martin region, period 2000 - 2019, is 0.992. It is concluded that the energy matrix in the San Martin region impacts economic growth in 695,838 units and explains 98.50% of its increase and has a correlation of 0.992, which is a very strong positive correlation.
