In the present investigation, the quality of the water along the section of the Cumbaza river basin was evaluated, through the identification of the families of macroinvertebrates present and their relation with some physicochemical parameters, it is a basic type study with a descriptive level and correlational, it was carried out in four specific stations of the river, during the months of May and October of 2015. 678 macroinvertebrates distributed in 2 classes (Insecta and Gastropoda), 10 orders and 21 families were collected. The BMWP / col index, allowed to classify the environmental quality as Category II and III moderately contaminated, no significant levels of contamination were found in any of the studied stations, there was a dubious qualification for which three environmental conservation proposals are presented in the study. In the month of May, the station with the greatest diversity was the (Station II: H '= 2.39681), the (Station I: H' = 2.37276) and the (Station III: H '= 1.78021); in October the season with the greatest diversity was (Station III: H '= 2,15521), the (Station II: H' = 2,07076) and the (Station I: H '= 1,71241). Parallel to the evaluation with the biondicators, some physical-chemical parameters were evaluated as: pH, Chlorides (mg / L), nitrates (mg / L), Aluminum (mg / L), Iron (mg / L), Sulfates (mg / L), Dissolved Oxygen (mg / L), Manganese (mg / L) and Conductivity (uS / cm), obtaining as results that they comply with the provisions of the DS No 015-2015 of the MINAM, Environmental Quality Standards, category 3 water for vegetable irrigation. The Pearson Correlation between the BMWP and the physicochemical parameters had a negative and positive correlation that explain certain environmental conditions; when comparing the period and the sampling stations in each station, statistically they are significant in both situations, this is partly due to the characteristic macroinvertebrates of headwaters and that the environmental conditions of the sampling periods and the seasons are not same as they are evaluated as they occur in the basin and also the flow, rainfall, anthropic activities are also factors that influence the behavior of the biological community.
