The objective of this research was to: Determine the level of knowledge and practices on breastfeeding among mothers of the native communities of Chiricyacu and Aviación - District of San Roque. Period June to November 2018, the study was quantitative, design descriptive correlational, the sample consisted of 52 mothers (22 mothers of the Native Community of Chiricyaku and 30 Aviation), using the interview technique and as instruments a survey to measure knowledge and an inventory for breastfeeding practices. Results: 40.9% of the mothers of the Native Community of Chiricyaku are between the ages of 16 and 25 years of age; 54.5% have more than 4 children, 40.9% are of marital status, 45.5% are dedicated to the farm, 40.9% have primary studies. While in the Native Community of Aviation 46.7% are over 25 years of age, 43.3% have between 2 to 4 children, 46.7% are cohabitants, 48.1% are dedicated to the farm, 42.3% have primary education. The knowledge of mothers about breastfeeding was low in both native communities (72.7% in Chiricyaku and 73.3% in Aviation), only 4.5% of mothers have a high level of knowledge in Chiricyaku and 10% in Aviation. Breastfeeding practices were inadequate at 68.2% in mothers of Chiricyaku and 63.3% in mothers of Aviation. Concluding that when applying the non-parametric chi-square test, it was evidenced that there is a significant relationship between the level of knowledge and the practices on breastfeeding in the mothers of the Native Communities of Chiricyaku and Aviación.
