The purpose of this study was to determine the solution to the progressive deterioration of public roads due to rainfall. An experimental design was applied, which basically requires the study of soil mechanics, topographic survey, hydraulic and structural studies, and finally the compilation of hydrological information for the design of the storm drainage system in Cumbaza, Leoncio Prado and Jorge Chavez streets in the District of Morales, Province and Region of San Martin. In order to obtain the results for the formulation of the hydrological study of the current project, historical records of maximum rainfall in 24 hours were used from the station CO. Tarapoto. Field work consisted in the excavation of thirteen test pits with a maximum depth of 1.50 m, concluding that most of the area under study is made up of non-plastic soils. The structural design was designed taking into account the hydraulic design sections, by means of a program developed in Excel, using f'c= 210 Kg/Cm2 and steel Fy= 4,200 Kg/Cm2. Therefore, it is concluded that rainwater and its poor evacuation is a problem that in recent years has become widespread in various localities of the country, causing an erosion phenomenon. For this reason, the drainage system design is carried out to avoid the smallest amount of suspended particles, as well as to avoid the contamination of the river and the surrounding vegetation areas.
