Optimum representative value determination of the coefficients of daily variation (k1) and hourly variation (k2), for the design of a drinking water system in the district of Moyobamba, province of Moyobamba Region - San Martin. In Peru, different knowledge, habits and socioeconomic particularities coexist among each social group or sector of a city, which leads to diversifications in hourly and daily water use. Therefore, the objective of the present research work is to determine the optimal representative values of the coefficients of daily variation (K1) and hourly variation (K2), in order to improve future designs of drinking water systems in the district of Moyobamba. The evaluation period begins on July 25, 2022 with a duration of 11 months and 01 calendar days, concluding with the data processing considering the San Mateo reservoir as the most representative. In order to determine these coefficients, a methodology was used by dividing the water consumption in three important stages. First, field data was compiled in which EPS MOYOBAMBA S.A. provided important information to conduct this research project, so the calculation of the volume of water consumption in the reservoir during the periods July 2021 to July 2022 was considered; in the second stage the data obtained in stage 1 were processed, selecting the data for the preparation of spreadsheets. The result obtained is a daily variation coefficient (K1) equal to 1.48 and an hourly variation coefficient (K2) equal to 1.58. In the last stage, the calculated values are compared with the values provided by the National Building Regulations (RNE). In conclusion, the value of daily variation coefficient (K1) equal to 1.48 is higher than the one recommended by the RNE, likewise the value of hourly variation coefficient (K2) equal to 1.58 is lower than the one recommended by the RNE. In this sense, it is recommended to use the calculated values for future water supply designs in the city of Moyobamba, since they are more optimal and efficient compared to the RNE, considering that the data used are real, thus achieving and optimizing future designs.
