Epidemiological and clinical characteristics of prostate cancer in patients treated at Hospital II-2 Tarapoto period 2017-2022 Introduction: Prostate cancer is the most frequent urological neoplasm in men and represents one of the most important causes of death, which is an important pathology in public health on a national and global scale with a rising incidence. This disease affects with greater predisposition to individuals of black race and family history, presents a slow growth, an asymptomatic course in its initial stage and a late onset, making the diagnosis is made when this cancer has already spread extra glandularly, decreasing in a very marked way the possibilities of a tumor regression. Objectives: To determine the epidemiological and clinical characteristics of prostate cancer in patients between 50-80 years old attended at the Urology service of the Hospital II-2 Tarapoto during the period 2017-2022. Materials and methods: This is a basic, simple descriptive, retrospective, retrospective, cross-sectional study with a population of 231 and a sample of 52 patients. A data collection form was used for patients between 50 and 89 years old with a diagnosis of prostate cancer who were admitted to the urology service during the period 2017-2022. Results: The predominant age range was 70-79 years (50%), the most frequent ethnicity was mestizo (98%), 92% had no family history for this neoplasm; 60% came from a rural area; 75% had a normal BMI; 69% had prostatitis as a history; 27% had arterial hypertension as comorbidity. The most frequent clinical manifestation was the presence of a palpable nodule (100%) and weak urine stream (96%); 71% of cases presented PSA values >25 ng/dl; Gleason 5-7 (G2-G3) in 49%; T2 stage in 64% and adenocarcinoma as the predominant histologic excision in 88%. Conclusions: In our environment, this pathology is more frequent in patients over 70 years of age of mestizo race, with no family history of this neoplasm and of rural origin, with a normal BMI, with the presence of a more common pathological history of prostatitis and with comorbidity of arterial hypertension. Furthermore, the most common clinical characteristics were the presence of a palpable nodule on rectal examination and a weak urine stream, as well as PSA values >25 ng/dl and Gleason scale 5-7 and T2, so it is argued that the predominant clinical stage is localized cancer (Stage II) and that adenocarcinomas were the most frequent extirpation.
