The research project entitled " Sensor-based smart cane to improve the movement of visually impaired people of the association "Fe y Esperanza" in the city of Tarapoto" has as general objective, to improve the movement of visually impaired people of the association "Fe y Esperanza" in the city of Tarapoto. The specific objectives are to measure the movement of visually impaired people of the association "Fe y Esperanza" in the city of Tarapoto; to develop an electronic device capable of assisting the use of the white cane and to establish the comparison of the intelligent cane based on sensors with the movement of visually impaired people in the association "Fe y Esperanza" in the city of Tarapoto. Different methodologies were used for the development of the proposal. For the collection of information, observation, interview, time-taking and survey techniques were used; for data analysis and processing, the following tools were used: SPSS v.26 statistical software and Microsoft Excel 2016. After measuring the displacement of the visually impaired people, with a number of obstacles between 10 and 12, an average displacement time of 155 seconds or its equivalent of 02 minutes and 35 seconds was obtained; then the time taken per obstacle was calculated, where the average of the evaluated subjects gives a value of 14.91 seconds. For the evaluation of the smart cane, 25% rated it as "Good" and 75% rated it as "Very Good"; inferring that the implemented intelligent cane has managed to satisfy the user by allowing him to detect obstacles more efficiently and it can be inferred that the use of the smart cane has improved the time spent on the route, thus reducing the time spent, which is a positive evaluation.
