This thesis work titled as "Zoning of the Soil-carrying Capacity for Construction of Buildings in the Locality of San Francisco del Río Mayo, District of Cuñumbuque, Lamas province, Department of San Martin" was developed with the purpose of studying, identifying and evaluate the types of soils that exist in the urban area of said Locality and determine its carrying capacity, to prepare a zoning map of the soil to be used as a foundation material in the construction of buildings, seeking practical and scientific solutions to the problem of build without knowing the real behavior of the soil, avoiding settlement and deterioration of buildings, affecting the decoration and therefore the quality of life of users, among others. Applying for this the fundamental concepts of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnics, said study was based on the results obtained after having executed the respective soil exploration and sampling indicated in the E050 Standard of the National Regulation of Buildings and laboratory tests of moisture content , limits of consistency (atterberg), granulometric analysis, density, triaxial and classification of soils, taking into account the established norms in force, likewise these tests have allowed to determine the physical and mechanical properties of the foundation soil, as well as the type of soil and its characteristics. Soils were classified by the SUCS method, which indicates the presence of inorganic clayey soils of low plasticity in the entire study area, with low humidity percentages. Two well-marked zones have been determined, called ZONE I and ZONE II, which are delimited in Zone I by C-01 and C-11 in Zone II by C-05, C-08, C-11, C -14 and C-15, the allowable capacity in Zone I with a foundation depth of -1.50 meters and with a foundation width of 1.00 meters is between 1.23 to 1.27 Kg / cm2, the capacity allowed in Zone II with a foundation depth of -1.50 meters and a foundation width of 1.00 meters is between 1.58 to 1.87 Kg / cm2.
