In most of the Educational Institutions of our country, particularly at “Marcelino Chávez Villaverde” Educational Institution of Yuracyacu district, students have been noticed to have deficiencies in the development of their oral communicative competence in the English area, due to the absence of suitable techniques. Based on this, the research task sought to respond to the following question: What extent will songs as a didactic strategy develops the oral communicative competence in the English area, of the students of the second grade of secondary education of “Marcelino Chávez Villaverde” Educational Institution - Yuracyacu, province of Rioja? The following is an applied research, because it aimed to develop oral communicative competence. The sample selected was non-probabilistic, with all students in the “A” section (30 students) as the experimental group, and the “B” section (30 students) as the control group, with 58 degrees of freedom and one level of significance of 0.05. Reliability (80.3%) was accomplished using Spearman’s correlation coefficient, while validity was established through expert judgment. The analysis of the results showed that in the pre-test of the experimental group, the highest percentage of students presented oral communication competence at the beginning in the English area; while in the post-test of this same group, the highest percentage of students showed an accomplished level of oral communicative competence in the area of English. On the other hand, in the pre-test of the control group, the highest percentage of students presented a level of oral communicative competence at the beginning in the English area; while in the post-test of this same group, the highest percentage of students presents a level of oral communicative competence in progress in the English area. Therefore, it was concluded that songs as a didactic strategy significantly develops the oral communicative competence in the English area of the students of the second grade of secondary education of “Marcelino Chávez Villaverde” Educational Institution - Yuracyacu, province of Rioja
