The objective of this research was to determine the effectiveness of the family planning program in the knowledge and use of contraceptive methods in adolescents of the Tarapoto educational institution, year 2021. The research was quantitative deductive, applied, pre-experimental, prospective, transectional and field research. The population and sample consisted of 105 adolescent, male and female students from the fourth to fifth year of high school at the Tarapoto Educational Institution, 2021. The technique and instrument were the survey and the questionnaire respectively. The results showed that 47.62% of the participants were 16 years old, 50.48% belonged to the male sex, 64.76% belonged to the 4th grade of secondary school, 51.43% belonged to the Catholic religion, 80% were not currently working and 74.29% lived with their parents and siblings. The level of knowledge and use of contraceptive methods before the program was deficient with 60%, regular with 24.76% and high with 15.24%. After the family planning program, the level of knowledge and use was high with 48.57%, regular with 46.67% and deficient with 4.76%. It was concluded that there is a significant difference in the level of knowledge and use of MACs in adolescents before and after the application of the program, since the probabilistic value found was 0.000 less than 0.05 (margin of error).
