The objective of the present study was "To determine the relationship between socio-demographic-obstetric characteristics and maternal perinatal complications during vaginal delivery care at Hospital II - 2 Tarapoto - San Martín 2018”. It is a quantitative non-experimental study, with correlational descriptive design, the population and sample was conformed by 200 clinical histories of parturients, those who fulfilled the criteria of inclusion and exclusion; the technique of documental analysis was used and as an instrument, data collection forms were used. Results: pregnant women, according to sociodemographic characteristics, range from 19 to 30 years old with 54.3%, live-in partners 76.6%, complete secondary education 31%, come from rural areas 58.9%. Primiparous obstetric characteristics 45.7%, 37 - 41 weeks 81.1% and adequate prenatal care 76.0%. Maternal complications were 64% soft tissue tears, 8% dysfunctional labor, 6.9% uterine hyperstimulation, 5.7% prolonged expulsion and 4% tachycystole. Perinatal complications were 13.1% low birth apgar, 4.6% meconium aspiration syndrome and perinatal death, 1.7% acute fetal distress and perinatal asphyxia. In conclusion, the degree of education presents a statistically significant relationship with maternal complications (X2 = 14,908; p = 0.011) (p < 0.05) and with perinatal complications (X2 = 21,738; p = 0.001) (p < 0.05). Gestational age (X2 = 7.922; p = 0.019) and prenatal care have a highly significant relationship with maternal complications (X2 = 6.289; p = 0.043) (p < 0.05). Gestational age has a highly significant relationship with perinatal complications (X2 = 11,803; p = 0.003) (p < 0.05).
