Impact of the meteorological drought on the production of coffee crops, in the district of Soritor, Alto Mayo area, San Martín región Droughts are extreme hydrometeorological events, whose effects are devastating for the local economy, affecting mainly crops such as coffee, which yields depend largely on the frequency and amount of rainfall in a production cycle. The purpose of the research was to determine the impact of meteorological droughts on the production of Coffea arabica L. (coffee) in crops located in the district of Soritor, in the San Martin region. The Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) method was used to analyze droughts during the period 2000 to 2022, and the projection of climate models to 2099. In parallel to this, the data of cultivation areas, yield and phenology of coffee in the district of Soritor from 2001 to 2022 were analyzed. Subsequently these variables were correlated to obtain the following results: during the study period, 6 meteorological droughts occurred under the SPI12 study, and there are 1767 hectares of coffee in production with an average yield of 15.86 qq/ha. Finally, there is a low correlation between meteorological droughts and coffee crop production in the Soritor district.
