The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between financial development and economic growth in the San Martin region, for the period 2015-2020. In terms of methodology, the research was characterized as applied, descriptive-correlational, with a non-experimental design, and a population and sample constituted by the database of the National Institute of Statistics, the Central Reserve Bank of Peru, the Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion and the Superintendence of Banking, Insurance and AFP, from which information was collected through documentary analysis. The results showed that financial development in the San Martin region during the period 2015-2020, had a positive trend and economic growth also presented a favorable behavior in general terms; in addition, it was proven that the dimensions of financial development are related to economic growth, since the significance levels obtained in the Pearson test were less than 0.05. Finally, it was concluded that there is a significant relationship between financial development and economic growth, since a p-value = 0.005 with a coefficient r = 0.941** was reached, showing a very strong positive correlation and confirming that financial development has an 88.5% influence on the economic growth of the San Martin region.
