Relationship between non-domestic users and the quality of their effluents in the city of Rioja. The study area was located in the city of Rioja, department of San Martín. According to statistics, the area has grown annually, which has led to an increase in the demand for goods and services, resulting in greater environmental contamination due to liquid waste from sectors such as restaurants, poultry and livestock farms. In response to this, the general objective was “To determine the relationship of the category of non-domestic users (chicken rotisseries, poultry and municipal slaughterhouse) in the quality of their effluents in the city of Rioja”. The following specific objectives were formulated: To characterize the category of non-domestic users (chicken rotisseries, poultry and municipal slaughterhouse) in the city of Rioja; To determine the concentration of the effluents of non-domestic users (chicken rotisseries, poultry and municipal slaughterhouse) in the city of Rioja, referring to BOD5, COD, total suspended solids and oils and fats; To analyze the degree of relationship of the category of non-domestic users (chicken rotisseries, poultry and municipal slaughterhouse) in the quality of their effluents in the city of Rioja. In terms of methodology, surveys were used as an instrument, in addition to direct observation and laboratory analysis. The most popular restaurants located around the plaza were analyzed and surveyed, as well as all the poultry farms and finally the representative of the slaughterhouse was surveyed for a period of 3 months. According to what was observed, a water analysis was carried out only at the municipal slaughterhouse. As a result, the representatives of these establishments refused to provide information and, according to the analysis, all of them have as their main source the EPS water network and the solid and liquid waste they generate have no treatment. In the case of restaurants and poultry, they are discharged directly into the sewage system, while the feedlot goes directly to a marshland. The laboratory analysis of four parameters shows that BOD is 1,219.5 mg/L while MAV is 500 mg/L; followed by oils and fats 30.75 mg/L while MAV is 100 mg/L; TSS is 592.0 mg/L while MAV is 500 mg/L; and finally, COD is 2,854.5 mg/L while MAV is 1,000 mg/L. This concludes that three of the four parameters exceed the MAV for domestic wastewater, which presents a sanitary risk.
