The plants have a direct relacionship with the soul and their survival depends on the humidity of the substrate. So soil wáter is used by plants in their physiological activities. Knowing the importance of soil moisture, the problem of the present scientific research project is raised: What is the amount of wáter retained im the soils. Located in the secondary forest of the Pabloyacu and Research Center?, in order to obtain an answer, the following was proposed as a general objective: To quantitatively analyze the wáter retained in the soils of the secondary forest located in the Pabloyacu Production and Research Center. The Pabloyacu Production and Research Center has an área of approximately 200 hectares; the study área, comprised an extension of one Ha; this área presents characteristics of a secondary forest. The área was divided into two Sectors “A” y “B”. Each sector was divoded into 08 sib-divisions (08 repetitions). It was built 08 pits in each sub-divisions of each sector and in monthly periods, samples were taken for eight months (from august to march). Samples were taken from horizons A, B and C. In addition, samples were takwn in a referential manner between literfall and horizons A, B and C y un espesor thickness of 113.84 cm of the litter. On average 98.44cc of warer is reained (in 500cc of soil, 125cc for each horizon.
