The present work aimed to analyze the implications of using fertilizers in the agricultural activity of the province of San Martín, during the 2022 period. Regarding the methodology, it was descriptive and exploratory, using reliable bibliographic sources and background from the last 5 years. The importance of fertilizers used in the cultivation of Theobroma cacao L. was identified, along with the economic analysis in the province of San Martín. It was concluded that the importance of the fertilizers used is fundamental; they are used at different stages of the cultivation process. Compost (50%) or humus (25%) is used in the emergency stage, while in the definitive field, organic matter, bocashi (3 to 5 tons), dolomite (one ton), manure, biofertilizers such as Azotobacter, humic and fulvic acids during vegetative development, rock phosphate, biol during flowering, and ulexite (25 to 50 kg/ha) during pod formation are utilized. These practices increase production and quality of the final product, while also providing environmental and social benefits. Additionally, it was found that the district of Chazuta is the most productive with 2073 ha-1. Moreover, the economic analysis on fertilizers from the fifth to the seventh year shows a higher profitability of 197.67% and a cost-benefit ratio of 2.98, generating a NPV of s/ 1762.88 and an IRR of 74% due to the significantly lower production cost compared to fertilizers.
