Due to the great sanitary problems related to domestic wastewater, the general objective of the research is to: Evaluate the removal efficiency of pollutants in domestic wastewater, applying the Tohá biological system at pilot plant level, the system has a storage tank of a V= 1100 L, inside is the submersible pump of 1hp. The biological filter has a V=8.13 m3, with filtering materials inside, composed of over stone, crushed stone, fine sand, rashell mesh, sawdust and earthworms. The auxiliary components are the 0.6m x 0.6m register box and the 0.6m x 0.6m drying bed, composed of filtering materials, over stone, fine sand and crushed stone. The pollutant removal efficiency was 20.79% for TSS, pH was 23.56%, BOD5 was 84.21% effectively, COD was 76.12%, temperature did not show removal efficiency, and finally, for thermotolerant coliforms, a removal efficiency of 52.86% was obtained. Moreover, all parameters complied on average with the MPL except for TSS and thermotolerant coliforms, for which reason constant maintenance is recommended in order to avoid system saturation.
