The general objective of this investigation was to determine the effectiveness of Law 31464 in the speed of the food process in the Legal Peace Court of Tarapoto, 2023; and, as specific objectives: (1) Identify the advantages of Law 31464 in the speed of the food process; and, (2) Know the suitability and diligence of the duration of the phases of the food process. The study variables were: Law 31464 and food process. The research approach was quantitative, basic, descriptive level and non-experimental cross-sectional design. The population and the sample were made up of 50 food process files that were elucidated between the months of January to November 2023. Documentary analysis was used as a technique and the documentary analysis guide as an instrument. The results were expressed in the following: five advantages that Law 31464 brought with it in the speed of the food process were identified, these being: the new forms of presentation of the claim, the increase in ex officio actions of the judge, the greater diligence and economy of the process, and the best application of the principle of the best interests of the child. It was known that the duration of the phases of the maintenance process was not ideal or diligent, since the qualification of the claim, the holding of the single hearing and the issuance of the sentence, had an uneven development in their actions, also exceeding the deadline established in the law, making it slow and behind schedule. It was determined that the duration of the process ranged mostly between 4 to 6 months. Coming to the conclusion that the median diligence of the process expressed in days is different from 90 days, with a level of 95% reliability, which means that Law 31464 in the speed of the food process is not effective.
