The present research is entitled "Voluntary surgical contraception related to the sociodemographic characteristics of postpartum women in the gynecobstetrics service of the Hospital 2-II Tarapoto, 2019". The objective of the research was to determine the degree of relationship between the acceptance of voluntary surgical contraception and the sociodemographic characteristics of postpartum women in the gynecobstetrics service of the Hospital 2-II Tarapoto, 2019. Likewise, the research methodology was of the basic type, while the level was correlational, the design was non-experimental - cross-sectional. The sample consisted of 205 postpartum women who had a cesarean section in 2019 and met the eligibility criteria for tubal ligation, whose medical histories were consulted and information and cell phone numbers were collected for a future survey. On the results, 86.3% of the postpartum women accepted voluntary surgical contraception, while 13.7% did not accept this method. The conclusion was that there is a relationship between the acceptance of voluntary surgical contraception and the sociodemographic characteristics of postpartum women in the gynecobstetrics service of Hospital 2-II Tarapoto, specifically with age (Chi=55, 940), economic income (Chi=33.977), district of origin (Chi=82.448), number of deliveries (Chi=13.965), belief of sequelae that prevent work (Chi=73.198), decrease in sexual pleasure (Chi=28.237), and religious belief (Chi=6.431).
