The objective of this study was to determine the biological cycle of Carmenta foraseminis in the Laboratory of Insect Rearing - National University of San Martin. The process began with the eggs collection in infested cocoa plantations in the district of Tabalosos-Lamas, San Martin region. The collected postures were individualized and incorporated in Petri dishes containing the artificial modified standard diet of Anticarsia gemmatalis (Greene et al., 1976) until the larval period was completed. Pupae were individualized in Petri dishes and incorporated into rearing cages until adult emergence where feeding substrates were added. Laboratory conditions used were temperature of 25±1 °C, relative humidity of 70±1 and photoperiod of 14 hours of light. Measurements in time, size and shape of eggs, larvae, pupae and longevity were carried out using 40 experimental units (individuals of C. foraseminis). The results indicate that the egg period was 7.58±0.51 days, its size was 0.54±0.03mm long and 0.41±0.02mm wide. The larvae go through five larval instars and their total time ranged from 33 to 36 days; the prepupa was 1.625±0.49 days, the pupa had a period of 14.23±0.60 and the longevity of the adults was 5.308±0.48 days. The development cycle was 57.98 ± 3.14 days and the total life cycle was 63.16 ± 3.62 days. Adult emergence occurs from 09:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
