Health education for an adequate and rational management of water resources in the city of Yurimaguas, 2021 The general objective of this study is to apply sanitary education for the adequate and rational management of water resources in the city of Yurimaguas. It was observed that at the household level, water was being wasted either because of lack of knowledge or because even if people know they are not aware that this resource could run out or that they are depriving other sectors of the continuity and coverage of the service. The characteristics of the inhabitants regarding the use of water resources were identified, the inhabitants were trained and sensitized on the proper and rational management of water, and the effects of health education for the proper and rational management of drinking water were also determined. In the operational part, a random sample of 40 inhabitants was used in a pre-experimental research where the main instrument to measure the effect of health education was a questionnaire, applied as a pre- and post-test. Likewise, 3 training sessions were conducted on the knowledge, responsible use and awareness of the adequate and rational management of water resources. Among the main conclusions, it was demonstrated that sanitary education contributed significantly to the adequate and rational management of drinking water, evidenced mainly by the fact that 60% of the inhabitants were aware of water leaks in the pipes of their homes. Furthermore, 98% of them turned off the faucets every time they opened them, only 18% kept the faucet constantly open when cleaning their personal hygiene, 58% cleaned their homes using recycled water, 60% used recycled water for the toilet, and 70% did not use water from the public service to water green areas.
