Lutz Scholz’s hydrological model enforcement for calculation of average monthly flows in the Gera river sub-watershed The present research was developed at the Professional School of Civil Engineering of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture of the National University of San Marin, with the purpose of obtaining the degree of Civil Engineer. The objective pursued has to deal with the fact that by making use of some hydrological approaches and models that have evolved to produce monthly flows as a solution to the problem of the lack of hydrometric information in rivers, these models, being based on empirical formulas or having a restricted applicability, have only provided a partial solution. For this reason, the Lutz Scholz approach was used, a mixed structure hydrological model with a deterministic structure to calculate the mean annual flows and a stochastic structure to generate extended flow series, which, in this case, corresponds to determining the mean monthly flow of the Gera River. Previously, before applying the method, the morphometric characteristics of the Gera river sub-basin and its hydrological variables (total and average monthly precipitation) were determined. The results obtained using the Lutz Scholz model, which was developed in Peru for large basins but not validated for use in small basins, are unclear. The impact of the Gera River sub-basin has not been estimated because no research or data collection has been carried out in the region. It is therefore difficult to acquire reliable data to make forecasts and have sufficient results for various applications (water supply, hydroelectricity, etc.). However, it is concluded that the morphometric characteristics of the Gera river sub-basin are consistent between them as well as with the hydrological variables, the latter having values consistent with the gauged flows and the application of the method under study is considered as "very good".
