Optimization of planting density to improve Roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) production. The research work was carried out in the Huinguilluico sector of the Morales district, with the objective of determining the optimum density of "Roselle" plants per production unit. A completely randomized block design (CRBD) was used, with four treatments, 10,000, 8,333, 8,547 and 12,500 plants/ha, distributed in three blocks. The variables under evaluation were: germination percentage, plant height, basal diameter, crown diameter, calyxes per plant, branches per plant, fresh yield, dry yield and economic analysis. The results indicate that the percentage of germination and branches per plant are not affected by the densities, while the plant height responded better when the density was higher, however the other variables reached better averages with lower densities. When comparing them with each other, the treatment with 8,333 plants/ha obtained superior indexes, achieving 904. 4 kg/ha of fresh yield and 381.6 kg/ha of dry yield, to this added that 1.10 was achieved as a cost benefit value, which implies that there is profitability in this activity. It is concluded that the "Roselle" responds better to lower densities.
