The objective of this research was to determine the influence of the educational intervention on the practice of social handwashing in time of COVID-19 in inhabitants of the condominium Las Terrazas de Moche-Trujillo, July-December 2020. The type of study was quantitative, quasi-experimental, explanatory, with a sample of 78 inhabitants and a checklist was used as instrument. Results: 41.0% (32) were between 41 and 50 years old, 53.8% (42) were male, 53.8% (42) had higher education, 75.6% (59) were married, and 46.2% (36) were public employees; in the application of the pretest on the timing of social hand washing, 84.6% (66) presented inadequate social hand washing, followed by 15.4% (12) that were adequate. After the educational intervention, a post-test was applied, showing a significant increase: 78.2% (61) presented adequate hand washing, and 21.8% (17) still presented inadequate social hand washing. Regarding social handwashing techniques, 91.0% (71) presented inadequate social handwashing techniques, followed by 9.0% (7) that are adequate; after the educational intervention, a post-test was applied, showing a revealing increase, where 93.6% (73) presented adequate handwashing techniques, and 6.4% (5) still present inadequate social handwashing techniques; in the application of the pretest on the duration of social hand washing; 83.3% (65) were inadequate, while only 16.7% (13) were adequate. After the educational intervention (post-test) the results had a positive increase, where 89.7% (70) of the participants presented adequate social hand washing, followed by 10.3% (8) who were inadequate, with respect to the frequency of social hand washing, 78.2% (61) were inadequate, while 21.8% (17) were adequate. After the educational intervention (post-test) the results had positive effects, where the frequency of hand washing was adequate with 96.2% (75), and 3.8% (3) were inadequate. The conclusion is that there is a considerable difference between the results obtained before the educational intervention of social handwashing (pretest) and after the educational intervention of social handwashing (posttest), showing a significance lower than the margin of error of 0.05, which allows us to contrast with the alternative hypothesis and reject the null hypothesis, as well as to highlight that the educational intervention on handwashing is effective.
